Hi Rosemarie! So bummed to hear this was crumbly–was it dry? It should be super moist so it might have been a bit overbaked. You can absolutely use a vanilla simple syrup to moisten it back up! It will hold up in a 4 layer cake!!

I also did not freeze it before assembling. Can I soak it with a vanilla simple syrup or will that ruin the lightness of the cake? Also, will this cake hold up to stacking for a tall, 4 layer cake?
