Add a little chocolate into your classic Thanksgiving dessert spread with these pecan pie brownies. They’re fudgy, nutty, and the perfect decadent treat to whip up for the holidays.
Pecan Pie Brownies
As you all know, Thanksgiving is hands down my favorite holiday of all time. I mean the turkey, stuffing, sides, pies… I could go on forever. It’s a flawless holiday. Except for one tiny problem… where is the CHOCOLATE!?! I don’t think I’m alone in feeling this. It’s a magnificent meal that would be made so much better by a sweet chocolate ending.
That’s where these pecan pie brownies come in. They’re fudgy, crunchy, nutty, and so darn easy to make. You’ll love this easy Thanksgiving dessert!
So… what are pecan pie brownies?
Okay, prepare yourselves. What I’m about to describe *may* be the the best Thanksgiving dessert you’ll have on the table this year. Picture pecan pie, but with an indulgent brownie base. Except the brownie base is way thicker, with a slightly thinner layer of nutty pecan pie. The result is a decadent chocolate dessert with just the right amount of pecan topping to give it a crunchy, sweet finish.
They are *chef’s kiss* perfecto!
What do you need to make this fun Thanksgiving dessert?
You’ll only need 8 ingredients to make these pecan pie brownies. Plus, you won’t even need a mixer, meaning you can whip these up on a whim without breaking out any bulky kitchen tools. Here’s your shopping list!
- Brownie Mix
- Honey
- Brown Sugar
- Salt
- Egg
- Butter
- Vanilla Extract
- Pecans
Why are pecan pie brownies so good?
Pecan pie + chocolate is such an underrated flavor combination. I almost always make this bourbon chocolate pecan pie for Thanksgiving and it’s always a hit. And these pecan pie brownies are absolutely no exception. Chocolate is the perfect addition to this classic Thanksgiving flavor. The combination of a fudgy chocolate base with a salty-sweet, nutty topping is truly out of this world.
Enjoy every chocolatey bite!

Ingredients
- 1 boxed brownie mix, prepared according to the directions
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups chopped pecans (roasted & salted preferred)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9 x 9 pan with parchment paper on all sides. Set aside.
- Prepare the brownie mix according to directions on the box. Pour the brownies into the prepared pan, using a rubber spatula to spread the batter evenly to the sides.
- Bake the brownies for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, take the brownies out of the oven. They will still be raw, but set enough to hold up the pecan pie layer.
- While the brownies are baking, make your pecan pie filling. In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, brown sugar, eggs, butter, salt, and vanilla extract. Fold in the pecans. Set aside.
- Once the brownies are somewhat cool, pour the pecan pie filling over the brownie layer, using a spatula to gently spread the filling out evenly without pressing it too far into the brownie layer.
- Return the brownies to the oven for another 20 minutes or until a knife inserted into the middle comes out mostly clean.
- Allow to cool completely to room temperature to set before slicing into 16 brownies. Enjoy!
These are amazing!! I made these last year for Thanksgiving and they were an absolute hit! Making them again for tomorrow, and they’re SO easy!
Yay! Happy thanksgiving! Enjoy xx
Can I use an 8 x 8 pan? Would I have to change cooking times?
You can use an 8 x 8 it will just need to bake longer because they’ll be thicker! I haven’t personally tried it so I don’t know the exact bake time but it will be a bit longer so be sure to keep an eye on them!
Hi! I can’t wait to make these, but I don’t want to use box brownie mix since I’m gluten free. Can I use one of your brownie recipes and follow the rest of the instructions the same? Even if you don’t respond I’m going to do it anyway, so I’ll report back!
