Hi Bida! You can absolutely make these by hand–just a bit more of an arm workout and hands on time!

THANK YOU. It says 1 to 1-1/2 cups water. I used 1-1/4 cups and it was perfect. Watch them in the oven at 450. They may burn quickly. I switched my trays half way through the time too. I brushed them with egg wash and used bagel seasoning and some with sesame seeds.

Hi Melanie! Is your yeast fresh? If they’re not rising it’s possible your yeast may be expired!

The second time they turned out bigger and more smoother but they really didn’t rise as much as I would like. I need to know the secret how to get them to rise better. But they’re really good and my whole family loves them! I will continue to make bagels from this recipe.

Hi Justina! If you want the bagels to brown you can brush them with an egg wash before baking in the oven, or you can bake them for a little longer to get a really crisp exterior!

I broke one up and it was fully cooked. How can I achieve browning?
