Hi Carina! You can swap them out with any other stir in–chocolate chips, nuts, etc. If you swap them out with the oats I’d only do 1/4 – 1/3 cup as the oats will absorb some of the wet ingredients which will make the bar a little drier!

People are allergic to nuts, so I skipped the nuts and added more chocolate chips, but I think more chips would’ve been better. But then, I always think the amount of chips is only a suggestion, and there should be at least twice as many as most recipes suggest. I had a 9×9 pan and an 8×8 pan, plus a 9×13 pan, so I used the two smaller pans. I managed to only eat a tiny piece and little crumbs when I cut them. Delicious – enough that people at my neighbor’s house got over their initial reaction (are these Special brownies?) and still liked them. Because they were amazing. Good for rage baking, if you’re in that space.
